Our Family Journey
We are the descendants of
Eliza Allen Blunt

She lived on the Woodlawn Plantation in
Assumption Parish in Labadeville, where she married Jefferson Blunt in 1854. She was born in 1820.

We were able to get a copy of a 203 page document
of Jefferson Blunt Civil War Pension Records
where there is a wealth of information we will
be sharing with the family. We are so excited!  There is where we found out Eliza's maiden name was Allen, she also had a sister named Agnes Allen who married a Nicholas Jefferson.

Meet the present family researchers:
Wilmon Bryant of Leesburg, Flordia and Sherry Washington of Atlanta, Georgia.  Wilmon and Sherry are the great great great grandchildren of Elijah and Louisa Blunt Howard.

The 1870 Census listed Eliza as married, 47 years old with 6 children: Margaret, Julia, Aaron, Eliza, Louisa and Henney, it listed their race as Mulattoes.  Records indicate that Jefferson Blunt died April 4, 1864 in the Civil War, he enlisted September 12, 1863 in New Orleans, LA along with 17 other slaves from Woodlawn Plantation in Labadeville, LA where they lived.

The 1880 Census listed Eliza as 60 years old, a widower with 2 daughters Julia Ann and Louisa living at home with, 2 grandkids Fannie Blackson (Julia Ann's daughter) and Eliza Folse (Louisa's 1st born daughter).

Information listed in the pension files - stated that Eliza had 2 children, Margaret and Julie Ann before she married Jefferson.  It stated that during Jefferson and Eliza's union Louisa, Eliza, Moses and Aaron were born. Eliza and Moses died at early ages. Henney was born later in 1869.

Many branches have come from the children of Eliza Allen Blunt.   Blunts, Sharrotts, Folses, Washingtons, Kennedys, Howards, Josephs, Grays, Dabneys, .....and still more!
